Testimonials for Cheryl Kaylie, RD, CDN

  • I have been interning with Cheryl Carpio-Kaylie, RD, CDN for about two years now and I have found that she is a pleasure to work with.  She is very informative and hands on with patients giving them the nutrition information they can use to meet their health goals.  Working with her has been a valuable learning experience.  Not only does she teach me things that I can use in the field, but that I can use daily.  She constantly challenges me and allows me to grow and expand my knowledge of nutrition.  If I have a question concerning patients or anything nutrition related I know that I can turn to her for her advice.

  • Hi  Cheryl ,
        I'm so glad I found you !
I  finally have a food regimen that doesn't require measuring and weighing everything. It's the easiest food plan I've ever been on! My weight is coming down while my diabetes is now in control. My glucose level actually went down since I've been  following your plan. I'm no longer confused about what to do to keep my weight and diabetes in check. This makes my doctor very happy!
Of all the different food plans I've used over the years none has ever been this simple to maintain. It allows me to live my life without feeling hungry, deprived or worried about food all the time. It puts the focus on my life not on food.
I'm thrilled with the results. This is the plan I've been searching for. This is the plan
that I can live with  for the rest of my life!!
Thanks for showing me the way to success.
                                                                                      Sincerely, Heide, August 2010

  • I am a 41 year old woman and I first met Cheryl in September of 2009.  My situation was more complex because of all my medical conditions.  I had also been through a lot of hardships.  Cheryl listened with perception, kindness, and understanding.  In December of 2008 I had a double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction due Breast Cancer.  The cancer was in my left breast, but I chose to have of both of them done. I also have Lupus (SLE), Fibromyalgia, Cerebritis Vasculitis, and suffer from migraines.  In the beginning of 2009, I was going back and forth to the doctors for severe cramps and diarrhea.   I had lost over 40lbs in a very short time.    After getting a second opinion from a highly recommended Gastroenterologist, and having the symptoms for over 4 months, I went through an endoscopy and also had many tissues biopsied.    The endoscopy showed that I had acute GERD and a Hiatal Hernia.   I was also diagnosed with IBS.   My biopsy results showed that I had a severe bacterial infection.   I was put on double antibiotic.   But to no avail, I still had the same symptoms for a long time after.   That is when I was sent to see Cheryl.   With her guidance and expertise, she showed me what foods & drinks can cause symptoms I may be having.   Besides being lactose intolerant since I was little, with a lot of trial and error, I found that I was allergic to oats, barley, and whole grain.   Cheryl, helped me discover that these 3 ingredients, - oats, barley, and whole grain, -, were my culprit. She showed me that there are so many foods out there that are delicious to eat that do not have these ingredients.   She even helped me with restaurant selections.    Cheryl helped me realize what I need to do to feel better overall.   Because there are so many foods I could not eat, she made the transition so much easier.   Giving up foods you really like isn’t always that easy, but in my case they were making me very sick.  Cheryl’s nutritional knowledge and understanding personable character has helped me to heal & become a stronger person inside and out.  I am very thankful and grateful to Cheryl for all she has done for me.   Lori D. • I'm so glad that I found Cheryl to work with as my nutritionist.  I started seeing her in the Spring of 2007 for weight management issues.  Her warm welcome made me feel comfortable right away.  She was totally non-judgmental on my less than stellar eating habits at the time and with her support I was able to make little changes in my eating habits that I was able to stick to instead of doing it the "fad" way.  Cheryl also has a personal touch with patients that is very rare in today's medical community.  Whenever I would "slip up," she didn't just list things I did wrong, she took the time to understand the situations that were going in my life that would cause me to slip into the unhealthy patterns and offered suggestions on how to notice when I was going back to old habits.  As if this wasn't enough, Cheryl has shown what a phenomenal nutritionist she is and how much care she gives to her clients when I broke the news to her in September 2007 that I had been diagnosed with Stage 4 non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.  The main concern for my oncologist was that I simply get calories in, drink enough fluids and keep everything down while I go through my chemotherapy treatments.  Cheryl has worked with me to make healthy choices to keep my weight and strength up.  While I am expected to make a full and complete recovery from this cancer, I know that Cheryl is not only concerned with getting me through the treatment, but she is also setting me up to continue eating in a healthy way after my treatment is over and I am in remission.  I wish everyone in the medical community took as much interest in their patients as Cheryl does in hers! --Cyndy S. • Cheryl is a very positive person who has helped me get started on my way to being healthy.  She talks to me like an equal and makes me feel comfortable during our meetings.  She is very professional and is well qualified for her field.  I look forward to continuing working with her, as I feel confident she will help me reach my goals.  -Kim D. • My husband is a patient on dialysis and I am writing this letter on his behalf to give thanks and praise to Cheryl. Cheryl is friendly, pleasant, and very knowledgeable concerned individual, always thinking of what to do to keep her patients in her charge well and their nutritional needs up to par.  Cheryl has made a very trying situation for my husband and a little easier to cope with and the information she has given us helped me to keep him healthy and functioning.       -Doris T. 2006
